We need to upgrade our remaining Windows XP machines to Windows 7, we are doing workshop upgrades but for main sites we have the network capacity to set out a Backup / Deploy job that will update the machines to Windows 7, it's much the same as the job we use in the workshop, it automatically takes a backup, displays the backup via Ghost Explorer in WinPE and then the engineer has to click OK to begin deployment, the image is then copied to C:\data on the clients hard disk after Windows 7 and all additional jobs are completed.
We are going to be deploying via our Service Desk, so we'll have to strip all the user interaction out, this means taking out the ghost explorer window that appears and the Yes / No box to deploy, so we need a foolproof way of checking via conditions or command line automatically that the backup image has been succesful, does anyone know the best way to do this?
We have an IF condition in currently whereby if tthe output of the ghost image does not equal 0 then the job is stopped, but I can see circumstances in which this might fail and the job would continue anyway.
Basically what I need is the absolute safest way to automatically check during the job if the image if backed up and readable on our server before it moves on to the next job, any advice would be greatly appreciated!
